The largest barrier island in South Carolina, measuring 12 miles long and five miles wide, Hilton Head is a vacation paradise dedicated to that most serious of Southern pursuits--leisure. The island's most famous pastime is golf, with several courses spread throughout its length. Many other activities, including nearly all watersports, are practiced here with much enthusiasm.
